1962 Finals : An Elgin Baylor 62 Point Game
With all the jazz about Kobe’s fourth game of at least 50 points, I think it’s fitting to take a look back in basketball history to learn more about the guys who went before him. I’d like to share with you guys a clip from the 1962 NBA finals where Lakers great Elgin Baylor scored 62 points. After all Kobe said it himself here that learning about these guys is a great thing:
“It’s a tremendous honor for me to be in the same (category) with those guys,” Bryant said. “The coolest thing about it is this younger generation gets a chance to learn about Elgin Baylor, gets a chance to learn about Wilt Chamberlain and some of the things that they’ve accomplished, so that the legacy will continue to live on.”
Enjoy the clip. Remember that before our stars today there were many who came before them who did great things and our stars today just continue to build on their work to supply the NBA with greatness. Down the road even Kobe will be but a memory and the next generation will need to be reminded that such a person was great too and we shouldn’t forget that.
