Kobe Bryant is in the mood or in a mood
NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game NBA Basketball.
All Kobe wanted were some decent teammates.
Well, by decent, Kobe meant really really good, like in Kevin Garnett or someone on that level.
That level, better known as the NBA Stratosphere is hard to come by and even harder to get a player from. NBA trades are difficult to pull off.
The Lakers tried to oblige Kobe and went after Kevin in the off season.
The Deals fall through
Not sure what they were thinking, but the deal appears to have fallen through because of the Lakers reluctance to part with some pseudo stars, better known as barely above average players.
The bottom line is that the Lakers aren’t a bad team. They’re also not a great team, which they could have become had they been able to coax Minnesota’s Kevin McHale into sending them Garnett for a package of players.
The Lakers simply couldn’t get the Pacers to back off their demands for Bynum and Lamar Odom for O’Neal, so that deal never materialized. source
Not deterred the Lakers tried for all of the available big time players.
Kevin Garnett went from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Boston Celtics. Jermaine O’Neal stayed with the Indiana Pacers. Shawn Marion is expected to stick with the Phoenix Suns. Andrei Kirilenko might stay in Russia rather than rejoin the Utah Jazz.
Shawn Marion Super Sun
The Shawn Marion deal is interesting in that Shawn is the highest paid Phoenix Sun and yet he wants out to find out if he can win outside of the shadow of Amare Stoudemire and Steve Nash.
Yet, Shawn said he would agree to a deal to the Lakers to live in the shadow of the great Kobe? Yeah, probably good that one didn’t work.
So, will Kobe have to score a hundred a game this year? Will he even smile?
Kobe is finding that life outside the domain of Shaq is a lot harder than he thought.
Can you blame him though? Kobe wants to win a title of his own, not one where they say Shaq won another title with Kobe on his team.

Am I still a Kobe fan? As great player as he is, the answer is no. I grew up a few minutes away from the Forum during the Magic & Kareem years, but I can’t get behind the Lakers again as long as Kobe remains on the team.
