Suns Deal James Jones To Portland
After a pretty busy draft day, apparently the Blazers aren’t done yet.
League sources confirmed that the Suns will ship forward James Jones to the Trail Blazers as part of the deal in which Portland bought the 24th pick from Phoenix for $3 million Thursday.
I know the small forward position is their weakest right now but I’m not so sure if James Jones is the right guy. While he’s a nice defender, he had an offensively disappointing performance last season shooting only 38%. Perhaps if he learns to be more offensively potent this year he could be a nice addition to the Blazers roster. After all he learned from a great mentor in Reggie Miller while he was a Pacer. No matter what happens to Jones, the point is the Suns managed to let go of one of their contracts without really losing anyone that important. What they lost in Jones defensively could possibly be filled by their rookie Alando Tucker. As for the Blazers, weren’t the draft day acquisitions enough? Seriously…
